Pregnancy Sickness
Posted on
Morning sickness is the most common symptom of pregnancy, affecting up to 9 out of 10 women, but it can occur at any time of day. If you’re not exactly blooming in the first few weeks of pregnancy, you’re not alone! Rarely, the nausea and vomiting can be very severe (Hyperemesis Gravidarum) and 1 in 100-150 women will be admitted to hospital with the condition.
If you have been unable to keep anything down for 24 hours, if your urine is dark you are passing urine less than every 8 hours (indicating dehydration), if you feel feverish or faint, or are vomiting blood you should call your doctor straight away. It’s very important to continue to take folic acid even if you feel sick. A one-a-day multivitamin is an easy way to take this together with other vitamins and minerals.
Recommended Supplements
We have specially developed multivitamin/mineral supplements for each trimester so that your body gets the nutrients it most needs during each of these specific stages of pregnancy. We would also recommend that you boost your intake of Omega 3 DHA which has an important role to play in the development of the foetus. This will also help maintain your own levels of Omega 3 which are taken by your growing baby.
