Preparing for IVF
Posted on
There are many factors affecting the likelihood of a successful IVF cycle. Of crucial importance are the quality of eggs and sperm (and hence the embryo) and the receptivity of the uterus to the embryo. The woman’s age has a significant impact on a woman’s egg quality because she is born with all the eggs she will ever have and these suffer progressive damage throughout life due to the impact of unstable molecules called free radicals. These are thought to speed up the process of cellular ageing.
Nutrition and lifestyle factors can help to neutralise their impact and limit any further damage to a woman’s eggs – and a man’s sperm – as they develop and mature. The right nutrition can also help to support a balanced immune function, which is important for successful implantation, and healthy development of the uterine lining.
Recommended Supplements
To support the nutritional requirements of the body during pre-conception we would recommend including a wide ranging multivitamin, an anti-oxidant formula and build your stores of DHA and EPA Omega 3 to ensure the egg and sperm are in optimum nutritional condition before IVF. We would also recommend Vitamin D. We would therefore recommend the following:
- Vitafem (for her)
- Vitamen (for him)
- Vital DHA (1 for you and 1 for your partner)
- Vitamin D Spray
